Here are 6 ideas for you to consider:

Move into a smaller home – If your current home is too large for your family, considering moving into a smaller home with cheaper payments.

Sell one of your vehicles – If you have more than one vehicle, ask yourself if you really need the second one. If the answer is yes, then by all means, hold on to both vehicles. However, if you can get by with one, then why not sell the other one.

Eat at home more often- If you are in the habit of eating out regularly, spend some more time eating at home. You may think that eating out is not that expensive, but even being conservative, a family of four can easily spend $40 or more each time they eat out. That same amount of money can buy groceries for several meals instead.

Stop spending on credit – Do whatever is necessary to stop credit card spending. Some people have resorted to cutting up their credit cards. Others are a little less drastic and freeze their cards in water to make it more difficult to access.

Close unused credit accounts – Some financial experts will say I am wrong, since they believe that to do so would harm your credit score. However, if my goal is to stay out of debt, then my credit score and my available credit is less important to me than living debt free.

Accelerate debt payment – As you pay off each credit card and close the account, use the money to put towards your next credit card account or loan.
